How to use it

  1. 01Type or paste a Unix timestamp (seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds) or a date in a common format, choose Now, or pick one under Try.
  2. 02Check how it was read: the unit comes from the number’s size and can be set by hand; a date without an offset is read in the time zone you choose.
  3. 03Copy any line, or Copy all: UTC, the chosen time zone, every Unix unit, the HTTP date, and the weekday, ISO week and day of the year.

Questions

What is a Unix timestamp?

The number of seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z, the Unix epoch, not counting leap seconds. 1700000000 is 2023-11-14T22:13:20Z. Negative numbers are before 1970.

Is my timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?

Count the digits: today a timestamp in seconds has 10 digits and one in milliseconds has 13. The converter reads numbers below 100,000,000,000 as seconds, below 10¹⁴ as milliseconds and below 10¹⁷ as microseconds (so 1700000000000 is read as milliseconds). You can set the unit by hand.

Which date formats can I paste?

ISO 8601 (2026-09-29T10:00:00Z), with a space instead of the T and an offset or UTC after the time (2026-09-29 10:00:00 UTC, 2026-09-29 10:00:00 +05:30); JavaScript’s Date output (Tue Sep 29 2026 10:00:00 GMT+0530 (India Standard Time)); RFC 2822 and HTTP dates (Tue, 29 Sep 2026 10:00:00 +0000); and dates with slashes (09/29/2026). Slashes are read as month/day/year, as in the US, and the converter says which date it read. For 03/04/2026 it says: “Slashes read as month/day/year: 4 March 2026. For 3 April, write 2026-04-03.”

What is the year 2038 problem?

Systems that store Unix time as a signed 32-bit number can count up to 2,147,483,647 seconds, which is 2038-01-19T03:14:07Z. One second later the number wraps around to 1901. 64-bit timestamps don't have this limit.

Is my input sent anywhere?

No. It's converted in this tab, and Now reads your device's clock. Your input isn't sent to our servers, and it isn't kept after you leave the page.
