How to format JSON

  2. 02Choose Format (I or Ctrl+I) to indent it, or Compact (I or Ctrl+Shift+I) to put it on one line. Syntax errors are marked in the editor as you type.
  3. 03Explore it as a tree or a table in the Output pane (on smaller screens, switch to Output), or choose Query to query it with JMESPath, JSONPath or JSONQuery.

Questions

Is my JSON sent to your servers?

No. The editor runs in this tab: parsing, formatting, queries, repair and schema validation all happen in your browser. There is no save or share link, and your input isn't sent to our servers.

How large a file can I open?

The editor is designed for documents up to 512 MB, and large arrays are rendered in sections. In practice the limit is your device's memory.

What can Repair fix?

Trailing commas, comments, single quotes, unquoted keys, missing commas and brackets, Python True/False/None, fenced code blocks, JSONP wrappers and newline-delimited JSON, among others. Repair runs in one click, and undo (Z or Ctrl+Z) puts the original back.

Does it remember my documents?

Only if you turn on Recent files. It is off by default, keeps up to 5 documents in this browser only, and turning it off deletes them.
