Questions

How are the words found?

Spaces, punctuation and symbols separate words, and so does a change from a lowercase letter or digit to a capital, as in camelCase. An acronym ends before its last capital when a lowercase letter follows, so getHTTPResponseCode is get, HTTP, Response, Code, which gives getHttpResponseCode in camelCase. Symbols such as + and # aren’t letters, so they’re dropped there: C++ becomes c_tips in snake_case. A few common names keep their own capitals as one word, such as IPv4, OAuth and iOS: IPv4 address becomes ipv4_address.

Does it convert a list?

Yes. camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, CONSTANT_CASE, kebab-case and dot.case convert each line on its own, so a list of names stays a list; for example "first name" on one line and "last name" on the next become first_name and last_name.

What do Title Case, Capitalized Case and Sentence case keep?

They keep your spacing, punctuation and line breaks. A line that is one identifier, made of letters, digits and underscores only, is split into words first: getHTTPResponseCode becomes Get HTTP Response Code. lower case and UPPER case change only the letters, so emails, URLs and identifiers keep their punctuation. Title Case capitalizes the first letter of each word and lowercases the rest, but keeps short words such as a, the, and, of and to in lowercase unless they come first or last, or right after a colon or a full stop: the lord of the rings becomes The Lord of the Rings. Capitalized Case capitalizes every word, short words included: The Lord Of The Rings. Sentence case lowercases everything, then capitalizes the start of each sentence and line and a lone "I"; a full stop after a common abbreviation such as Dr. or e.g. doesn’t start a new sentence. Both keep words written in capitals, such as NASA or HTTP, unless the whole line is in capitals.

Is my text sent anywhere?
